Michigan State's Sparty Mascot Getting Bronze Monument

EAST LANSING (AP) - Michigan State University's Sparty mascot is getting a bronze monument on campus this year.

Tami Kuhn, MSU Union manager, told the Lansing State Journal that the statue will be perched on a bench with his muscular arms extended out. He'll be at the MSU Union along with a display highlighting the evolution of the East Lansing school's mascot.

The new installation also will include a full list of donors who contributed toward the $150,000 project as well as an explanation of Oregon-based sculptor Alison Brown's design process.

Brown says Sparty will have room on either side of him for people to pose with. He'll be cast in bronze and adorned with the school's green and white colors.

Another statue known as "Sparty" is a popular campus photo spot.
