Michigan State Program Opens Doors For Bay College Students

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan State University College of Human Medicine is establishing a cooperative program of premedical education that will offer admission to Bay College students.

The Early Assurance Program extends the opportunity for admission to Bay College students who transfer as undergraduate premedical students to three universities in the Upper Peninsula. Those universities are Lake Superior State University, Michigan Technological University or Northern Michigan University.

Preference for admission into the program will be given to students who transfer to one of the three universities and meet certain criteria. They must either be a first-generation college student, a graduate of a low-income high school, a graduate from an underserved area or eligible for a need-based grant. They also could demonstrate interest in a high-need medical specialty or practicing in a medically underserved community.
