Michigan Police Recover Scores Of Fraudulent Credit Cards; 6 In Custody
MARSHALL, Mich. (AP) - Michigan authorities have arrested several people in two incidents involving scores of stolen or fraudulent credit cards.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports Thursday three men and a woman from the Chicago area were jailed Wednesday after Calhoun County sheriff's deputies discovered about 150 cards from foreign countries in a Volkswagen near Marshall.
The car was across the street from a gas station, where a clerk had contacted police about possible credit card fraud.
The sheriff's office says several thousand dollars and roughly 60 cartons of cigarettes also were found.
Also Wednesday, MLive.com reports Michigan State Police found about 90 fraudulent cards during a traffic stop in Interstate 75 in Wayne County. The driver and passenger were arrested.
State Police Lt. Mike Shaw says there are no connections between the incidents.
