MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Brett Adcock retired the first seven batters he faced, helping Michigan beat defending champion Indiana 4-1 on Wednesday in the opener of the Big Ten tournament.

Adcock didn't give up a hit until Logan Sowers doubled to lead off the fifth inning. Adcock gave up one earned run and three hits and threw six strikeouts for the third-seeded Wolverines (33-23).

Michigan will face Iowa on Thursday. Iowa beat Ohio State 3-2.

Michigan's Johnny Slater hit a three-run home run in the second inning. Carmen Benedetti had a one-run double in the sixth inning, scoring Jackson Glines, who had a game-high three hits in his four at-bats.

The sixth-seeded Hoosiers (32-20) won the Big Ten title in 2013 and 2014.
