Michigan gas prices up 8 cents this week, reflecting average $3.04 a gallon

Gas prices in Michigan are up 8 cents from last week, reflecting an average $3.04 per gallon for regular unleaded, AAA-The Auto Club group reported. 

This price is 6 cents less than this time last month, and 53 cents less than this time last year. Motorists are paying an average of $45 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of about $12 from 2024's highest price last July. 

At 433.8 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 4% below the five-year average for this time of year. 

Metro Detroit's current average is $3.03 per gallon, about 2 cents more than last week's average but still 46 cents less than this same time last year.
