Michigan Family Creates 200-Foot Luge, Begs For Cold To Stay

MASON, Mich (WWJ) Aren't we all tired of slogging to work and school through endless inches of snow and endlessly bitter cold?

Not so fast.

One Michigan family is hoping the white stuff sticks around, at least a little longer.

"I never thought I would hear myself say 'please, please don't get warm," Amy Hines told WWJ Newsradio 950's Zahra Huber.

Hines' family and their neighbor used the 4 feet of snow piled up at their large, 5-acre property in rural Mason, Mich., to build a 200 foot long sled track on their 5-acres in Mason, near Lansing.

Hines says part of the idea came from watching the Olympics - The families stenciled the five Olympic rings into the side of their sled track.

"There are a number of turns and dips and towards the very end there's actually a tunnel," Hines said.

As you can see in the video, it's a big hit for members of the family, including their yellow Labrador retriever, who loves to chase riders down the slope.

"We sort of embraced it all," Hines said. "We thought 'You know what, we have our own luge.'"
