Michigan Conservation Officers Find Dead Cougar In UP

BREITUNG TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — The body of a male cougar has been found about four miles north of Iron Mountain in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The state says conservation officers came across the carcass about 11 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Johnson Road and County Road 607 in Dickinson County's Breitung Township.

Details about the animal's death were not released. Officials are seeking information from the public about the cougar.

The state has said there have been a number of cougar sighting reports in Michigan over the past few years.
