Michigan Company Recalls Turkey Lunch Meat For Bacterial Contamination

HOLLAND, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - A Michigan company is recalling turkey lunch meat because of bacterial contamination.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture announced the recall on Monday, saying that some of the turkey sold at Earl's Meats in Holland tested positive for Listeria.

It says that Earl's Meats in Holland is making the recall after a sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
The state says that eating food contaminated with Listeria can have high fevers, severe headaches, neck stiffness and nausea. The disease is sometimes fatal.

The recalled meat was sold from the retail cooler at Earl's Meats in Holland and is has sell-by dates from Feb. 24, 2015 to March 3, 2015.

No illnesses related to the meat had been reported as of Monday.

Anyone who bought the recalled meat is asked to return it to the store for a full refund. Consumers with questions can call Earl Bosch at 616-392-6392.
