Michigan Bicyclist Dies After Colliding With Pedestrian

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP/WWJ) - Authorities say a 61-year-old man who collided with a pedestrian and crashed his bicycle while riding near Traverse City has died.

Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Lt. Chris Barsheff says Kenneth Paul Krych of Traverse City wasn't wearing a helmet as he pedaled his bicycle north along U.S. highway 31, near Silver Pines Road, in Grand Traverse County.

Barsheff said the bicyclist struck the 24-year-old woman, who was walking along the road's shoulder.

WPBN-TV reports the crash happened around 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Barsheff said Krych suffered serious injuries to his head and face. The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports he died on Monday.

Barsheff says the pedestrian had minor injuries that didn't require hospitalization.
