DNR Offers Clinics On Bass, Steelhead Fishing

CADILLAC, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan's Department of Natural Resources is offering two summer fishing clinics at its Outdoor Skills Academy in Cadillac.

Academy director Ed Shaw says the sessions at Mitchell State Park are for newcomers as well as experienced anglers who want to improve their skills.

"Bass Fishing for Beginners" is scheduled for June 4. It offers lessons on chasing largemouth and smallmouth bass in the Great Lakes and inland lakes.

It starts in the classroom at the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center, the moves outdoors for demonstrations and practice. The cost is $25.

The "Summer Run Steelhead Clinic" is set for June 25. It focuses on strategies and techniques for catching steelhead trout. The cost is $40.
