Metro Detroit man charged with allegedly groping teen girl at store

A Michigan man has been charged after authorities say he allegedly groped a 16-year-old girl in a store.

According to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, the 35-year-old man from Oakland Township was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. If convicted, he could face up to two years in jail and/or a $500 fine.

Prosecutors allege that on Aug. 17, McDonald inappropriately touched the teen while she was in a store with her mother.

"The teenaged victim in this case, like all women and girls, is entitled to safety and respect in public places," said Prosecutor Karen McDonald in a news release. "The defendant's alleged actions are not just an unwanted touching, they are an assault and a serious crime, and will be treated as such."   

Prosecutors did not release any additional.
