MDOT: Reopening Of NB I-75 Delayed Until Saturday
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The Michigan Department of Transportation has pushed back the reopening of the northbound I-75 ramp damaged in a tanker crash and fire to Saturday morning.
M-DOT had earlier expected to have the ramp at I-375 reopened late Friday. But spokesperson Diane Cross says that timetable has been moved to Saturday morning at 10am.
Crews are replacing a section of concrete 300 feet by 15 feet that was damaged last Sunday morning after a tanker truck exploded and caught fire.
State police Lt. Michael Shaw told WWJ the tanker truck was carrying 9,000 gallons of unleaded fuel when it exploded about 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
The driver of the tanker told investigators mechanical problems caused his vehicle's back tires to lock and the tanker to overturn.
