McDonald's Increases The Size Of The Quarter Pounder With Cheese

How can you change the size of the Quarter Pounder and still call it a Quarter Pounder? We don't know either.

However, that's what McDonald's has done, increasing the pre-cook weight of the burger from four ounces to 4.25 ounces.

According to NBC News, after being cooked the burger weighed in at just 2.8 ounces. So -- if anything -- consumers will get more of a bang for their buck.

It was leaked earlier in the summer that the change was coming.

The change "improves the taste, texture and appearance of the burgers" since the "patties retain more moisture resulting in a juicier and more flavorful burger," according to a document obtained by CNBC in June.

There's no word yet on whether or not the increase in beef will be followed by an increase in price, but the corporate giant may not have a choice with beef prices on the rise.
