Mayor Confirms Hamtramck Police Chief Placed On Administrative Leave

HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) -- Hamtramck Mayor Karen Majewski has confirmed to WWJ Newsradio 950 that Police Chief Max Garbarino has been placed on administrative leave.

"Our police chief, Max Garbarino, was placed on paid administrative leave today," Majewski said. "I don't know what the investigation is looking at, I don't know what allegations there might be or what the questions might be, but I can confirm that he was placed on paid administrative leave."

According to the Hamtramck Police Department, Lieutenant Ann Moise has been put in charge in Garbarino's absence.

It is unclear why the decision was made.
