Massive Pileup Closes Part Of I-75 In Oakland County

HOLLY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A portion of northbound I-75 in Oakland County was closed on Saturday afternoon after slick road conditions caused a massive pileup.

The initial crash occurred near E. Holly Road. Several other accidents occurred on the southbound side of the freeway in the same area due to "gawking."

The southbound side reopened just before 6 p.m. and the northbound side opened about an hour afterward.

Michigan State Police say that as many as 40 cars and three semitrailers may have been involved in the crash.

Michigan State Police say that there weren't any fatalities in the crash, but several people suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

I-96 was closed on Thursday after white-out conditions caused a 40-vehicle pileup in the Fowlerville area. Three people were killed, 11 others were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
