Massage Therapist Gets Jail In Criminal Sexual Conduct Case

GRAND RAPIDS (AP) - A 34-year-old massage therapist who worked at a western Michigan spa has been sentenced to three months in jail for inappropriately touching a client.

Kent County Circuit Court Judge Dennis Leiber told Lance Martinez Thursday that his "days as a massage therapist are over."

Martinez, of Grand Haven, pleaded no contest in June to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. A no contest plea isn't an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing.

The case began after a woman filed a complaint with police about a Sept. 23 massage at the Massage Green Spa in Grand Rapids.

Martinez also was sentenced to three months' probation.
