Massage And Sauna Startup Wins 2016 'Hatch Detroit' Contest

DETROIT (AP) -- A company opening a center offering therapeutic massage, saunas, a raw juice bar and other health-infused features has been awarded $50,000 in a contest to reward entrepreneurs in Detroit.

Meta Physica Massage & Sauna on Friday won the 2016 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest. It comes with the prize money from Comerica Bank as well as $200,000 in pro bono services, including branding and design, social media advertising, architectural renderings and legal guidance.

Meta Physica, founded in 2013, beat about 150 entrepreneurs in the contest.

The contest started in 2011 and has five previous winners. Hatch Detroit is a Michigan nonprofit designed to support independent, retail businesses in Detroit.
