CBS DETROIT - Right-handed pitcher Jacob Turner, the centerpiece in the 2012 trade that brought Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Detroit Tigers, has been designated for assignment by the Miami Marlins.

The 23-year-old Turner, whom the Tigers drafted 9th overall in 2009, had a 5.97 ERA as of Tuesday, when the move was announced. Turner recorded a 3.74 ERA and a 3-8 record through 20 starts in 2013.

Sanchez and Infante worked out much better for the Tigers, who enjoyed great production from both of them in 2013. Sanchez finished the year with a 2.57 ERA, making him the ERA champion of the American League, while Infante had one of his best offensive seasons, recording a .318 batting average.
