FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) — Officials say a Marine has been killed in an incident with a vehicle during a training exercise at Fort Bragg.

Authorities said Lance Cpl. Steven Szymanski, of Midland, Michigan, died around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials said in a press release that Szymanski was killed in a "vehicular mishap." They did not release any other details. The death remains under investigation.

Szymanski was a crewman for light armored vehicles. He joined the Marines in September 2013 and was promoted to lance corporal in June. He was assigned to the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division

Marines have been training at Fort Bragg for about two weeks to fire guns larger than ones they can fire at Camp Lejeune.
