Man's Prized '79 Corvette Is Found 33 Years Later

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A man's prized Corvette that was stolen three decades ago in Detroit has been found in Mississippi.

George Talley said he was watching TV last week when AAA called to say his 1979 Corvette had been found.

"I was sitting at home last Friday looking at Judge Mathis, and I get a call from AAA," Talley told WXYZ. "I've heard it was running, it had 47,000 miles on it, and right now, it's at the police station in Hattiesburg."

The last time Talley saw the car was in 1981, before thieves took it from a parking spot along a Detroit street.

Now, the vehicle is returning to the Motor City where it belongs, and GM is picking up the tab.

"It's a lucky day," Talley said. "When I get that car here in that driveway, we'll go from there."
