Man With 12 DUIs Faces More Charges After Deadly Crash Claims A 12-Year-Old Girl

(WWJ) He hasn't had a driver's license since 1990 following 12 drunken driving convictions, and now a Wayne County man -- who wasn't supposed to be driving -- is facing a murder charge after a deadly drunk driving accident.

Prosecutors amended charges Monday against Charles Cahill to include second degree murder, operating with a high blood alcohol content causing death, operating with a suspended license causing death and having an open alcohol container in his car.

Victoria Mack, 12, died over the weekend, three days after the van she was in was rear-ended by Cahill's vehicle on Martinsville Road near Willis Road in Sumpter Township. Investigators say Cahill's blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit.

His bond was set Saturday at $1 million.

Cahill was reportedly driving with an open container of alcohol in the car. He allegedly also had just been involved with a domestic issue.

Police say the crash has been "horrific" for the Sumpter Township department.

Cahill will be back in court on August 10.
