Man Takes Plea Deal In Daycare Child Porn Case

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A man accused of producing sexually explicit photographs and videos of children as young as 2 at his mother's daycare center has agreed to plead guilty to sexual exploitation of a child.

The plea deal document filed this week in Grand Rapids federal court also requires 23-year-old Travis Stiehl to register as a sex offender and consent to the government's request for lifetime supervised release.

Stiehl faces up to 30 years in prison. Court records don't give a sentencing date.

A federal grand jury indicted Stiehl in May, and Kent County charges against Stiehl were dismissed that month. County authorities say Stiehl produced the child pornography at a Lowell home where his mother ran a day care.

The Associated Press left a message Wednesday seeking comment from Stiehl's attorney.
