Man Stabbed To Death In Northwest Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are investigating a deadly stabbing in a northwest Detroit neighborhood.

The incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home near Stansbury Avenue and Vasser Drive, just north of 7 Mile Road and the Lodge Freeway.

Police say a 51-year-old man was involved in some type of altercation at the home, during which he was stabbed multiple times. He was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Other circumstances weren't immediately clear.

Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Charlie Langton said a dozen police cruisers were parked in front of the home, with investigators combing every inch for evidence. A woman was taken away from the scene for questioning.

Witnesses allegedly told police they saw someone running from the home toward 7 Mile Road. Police say they know the suspect, who goes by the street-name "Blast." He's described as a black male, in his late 20s or early 30s with a stocky build.

Neighbor Daniel Clark said the victim was a nice guy who pretty much kept to himself.

"He was, you know, disabled, kind of dysfunctional, but tries to take care of himself. You know, he had some people in and out but that's about it. No problems," Clark said.
