DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say a man was shot multiple times while riding his bike near the Focus: HOPE resource center on Detroit's west side.

The shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. Thursday on Oakman Boulevard, near the Lodge Freeway.

Police say a 24-year-old Highland Park man was riding his bike along the eastbound side of the road when a light-color car pulled up and someone inside started shooting, striking the man twice in the leg.

After the shooting, the victim managed to walk about a block, where he was assisted by workers at Focus: HOPE before an ambulance arrived. He was taken to a local hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made.

An investigation is ongoing.

Oakman Boulevard was closed for about two hours after the shooting, but has since reopened.
