Man Killed In Road Rage Shooting Following Car Crash In Southwest Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say a 19-year-old man was killed in an apparent road rage shooting following a car crash on the city's southwest side.

The situation unfolded around 10 p.m. Monday on Fort Street near Woodmere Street, just outside of the Woodmere Cemetery.

Police say a 19-year-old Lincoln Park man was a passenger in a pickup truck that was hit from behind by an SUV. After the crash, two people got out of the SUV and started shooting.

The 19-year old was shot in the neck. He was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The driver, a 34-year-old Lincoln Park man, was uninjured.

The gunmen fled on foot after the shooting, ditching their vehicle at the scene. Both remain at large.

One of the suspects is described as a black male with a light complexion, about 26 or 27-years-old, 5'7" tall and 150 lbs. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray jogging pants. The other suspect was described only as a black male.

Anyone with information on the shooting or the suspects is urged to contact police at 313-267-4600.
