Man Shot, Carjacked At West Side Detroit Gas Station

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say a man who left his SUV running at a Detroit gas station was shot by two suspects who made off in his vehicle.

The incident happened early Friday morning at the Valero gas station on Schoolcraft Avenue and Greenfield Road.

Police say the victim left his SUV running at a pump and went inside the gas station when two suspects jumped inside the vehicle. The victim realized what was going on and rushed out of the station toward his vehicle when the suspects opened fire -- striking the man in the stomach and possibly in the arm as well. The suspects then fled the scene.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His current condition is unknown.

Police have not released a description of the suspects, but they could be driving the victim's 2005 silver Ford Escape.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact police at 313-267-4600.
