Man Shoots At Police On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) -- According to police, a man opened fire on officers on Detroit's westside on Saturday evening.

Detroit Police said that the shootout happened around 9:45 p.m. as officers assigned to the 8th Precinct were on patrol. The officers observed a male walking in the area of East 7 Mile Rd. and Edinborough.

When the officers stopped to investigate, the male suspect fled, firing shots at them. One officer responded by returning gunshots, as both officers chased after the suspect. The 18-year-old man was then arrested and the weapon was recovered by the officers.

No one was injured.
