Man In Motorized Wheelchair Critically Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash

DETROIT (WWJ) - A man in a motorized wheelchair is hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by an SUV on Detroit's west side.

The accident happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday near Lyndon Street and Livernois Avenue, south of Fenkell Avenue.

Witnesses tell police that the victim was crossing the street near the corner when we was struck by a Dodge Durango. The driver didn't stop after the collision, according to police, and fled the scene.

The victim, who is between 50- and 60-years-old, was rushed to a local hospital where he was last reported in critical condition.

An investigation is ongoing.
