Man In Custody After Making Suicide Threats In Livonia

LIVONIA (WWJ) -- A 60-year-old Livonia man made suicidal threats to police on Monday afternoon.

Middlebelt Rd. was closed for around five hours between Five Mile and Schoolcraft in Livonia as the man sat in his vehicle with a weapon.

Officers waited until they were able to get the man to surrender. The man is in custody and has been taken to a hospital for mental evaluation. No shots were fired and no one was hurt.

Middlebelt is now open to traffic.
