Man Found Shot To Death Outside Detroit Gas Station

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for a killer after a man was found shot to death in the driveway of a gas station on Detroit's west side.

The body was discovered early Tuesday morning outside of a Valero gas station at the corner of Schaefer and Plymouth roads, just south of I-96.

Police offered few details, only saying that the victim, a black male in his 30s, had been shot.

Ishmael Almahoud was working overnight at the gas station when shots rang out.

"Around two o'clock in the morning I heard about three gunshots, I don't know exactly how many it was but I didn't think too much of it just because I normally do hear, like, sometimes some people will shoot off a couple rounds," Almahoud told WWJ's Mike Campbell.

The shots sounded so close though, Almahoud said he looked outside, noticed the body and called police.

Information on a possible suspect has not yet been released.

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 313-267-4600.
