DETROIT (WWJ) -  A homicide investigation is underway after a crew cutting grass along I-75 in Detroit uncovered a dead body.

Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said the mowers found the man unresponsive, late Tuesday morning, underneath an overpass near 7 Mile Road.  The 911 call came in around 10:50 a.m. and EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Shaw said there was no immediate sign of foul play, but they're treating the death as a homicide until they complete the investigation.

The man was not immediately identified and police are not talking about as possible cause of death.

Before noon, the freeway remained open to traffic but police said they may have to close a lane at some point.
