Man Found Dead Outside Southwest Detroit Apartment Building
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are investigating a murder after a man was found dead outside of his apartment in southwest Detroit.
The incident unfolded early Wednesday morning outside of the Central Apartments on Central Avenue, in a neighborhood near Vernor Highway and Dix Avenue.
Police responded to the apartments after getting a call about a body on the sidewalk.
Initial reports from the scene indicated that the victim was stabbed. But Julio Costio, the victim's brother-in-law, said the 38-year-old man was shot to death.
"He was coming down about 1:40 in the morning and somebody shot him from here," Costio, who was visibly shaken, told WWJ's Laura Bonnell.
Other circumstances surrounding the man's death were not immediately clear.
An investigation is ongoing.
