Man Found Dead In Burnt Out Car In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - An investigation is underway in Detroit after a man was found dead in a burnt out car.

Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody said investigators were on the scene, before noon on Monday, in the area of Kendall and Westbrook, near I-96, on the city's northwest side.

Woody said the fire was already out when police and firefighters arrived.

A preliminary investigation found the victim, described as a black male in his 40s, may have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound — although, Woody said, detectives are not ruling out foul play.

Woody said the car is a gold-colored 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix.

No further information was immediately released.
