Man Found Dead After House Fire In Clare County

HAYES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in the northern Lower Peninsula say that firefighters have found the body of a man inside a burning house.

The fire was reported about 11:30 p.m. Friday at a home in Clare County's Hayes Township. It's about 25 miles north of Mount Pleasant.

Harrison community fire Chief Patrick Agin tells the Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant that flames were engulfing the house when firefighters arrived. He says they brought the blaze under control, then found the man's body.

Authorities are awaiting autopsy results before releasing the man's name and the cause of his death. The cause of the fire also remains under investigation.
