Man Fatally Shot While Watching Soccer Game At Pontiac Park

PONTIAC (AP) — One man was slain and another wounded after shots were fired into bleachers during a soccer league game in Pontiac, northwest of Detroit.

The Oakland County sheriff's office says Monday that 42-year-old Gilmar Carrillo was shot Sunday afternoon and fell from the stands at Aaron Perry Park. Carrillo, of Pontiac, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

A 49-year-old Pontiac man went to the same hospital and told officials he had been shot at the park. He was treated for his wounds and released.

Witnesses told investigators that the shooting followed an altercation between two groups of men. Both groups left the park, but the suspects returned a short time later and opened fire from a car. No arrests have been made.

Police say both victims were innocent bystanders.
