Authorities investigate after man fatally shot in Inkster

Man fatally shot outside Inkster apartment complex, police say

Inkster police say they are investigating a homicide after a man was fatally shot Thursday evening.

Police say the incident happened at about 5:28 p.m. near Hazelwood and Middlebelt Road. Police say the man was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The victim's identity has not been released.

"I heard three shots. I came out, and the guy was obviously deceased," said Kathy Schultz.

Kathy Schultz says she was on her way home from a doctor's appointment when she saw the tragedy unfold in front of her at an apartment complex. She says she ran inside a nearby barbershop and began filming the scene.

"Saw a Black male look like he was dressed in his work clothes sprawled out, arms sprawled out on the ground," said Schultz. "That's when all the police got all their guns together and were aiming it at that front apartment building."

Investigators say the shooting appears to be isolated and there is no threat to the community.

Anyone with information is asked to call Inkster police at 313-563-9850 or Michigan State Police at 734-287-5000.
