Man Facing 1-Year Misdemeanor For Crash That Killed Elderly Man Walking Dog

WATERFORD (WWJ) - A 38-year-old man has been charged with a misdemeanor for a traffic crash that killed an elderly man who was walking his dog last month in Waterford.

Steven Roux was arraigned Thursday at the 51st District Court on a charge of moving violation causing death, a one-year misdemeanor. He was released on a personal bond. An upcoming court date has yet to be determined.

The charges stem from an accident that happened on the morning of September 14 at the Fox Run Condominiums, near Elizabeth Lake and Hospital roads, resulting in the death of 86-year-old Harold Poduska.

Police say Roux was driving a Cadillac SUV on Tangle Wood when he struck Poduska, who was walking his dog.

Poduska was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His dog was not injured in the accident. Roux, who was wearing his seatbelt, was also not injured.

Police have said drugs and alcohol are not factors in the crash.
