Man Faces Trial In Slaying Of Neighbor; Body Found In Closet

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - A suburban Detroit man accused of killing his neighbor and storing the cellophane-wrapped body in a closet for weeks is facing trial.

The trial of Alex Adamowicz had been planned for about six months ago, but The Oakland Press of Pontiac reports delays in a lab analysis report pushed the date back. It's scheduled to begin Monday in Pontiac.

Adamowicz is charged in the April 2014 stabbing death of 51-year-old John Watson. Investigators have said that they believe Adamowicz killed Watson during an argument over noise at an apartment complex in Walled Lake, where both men lived.

Adamowicz is charged with open murder. If a jury convicts him of first-degree murder he would face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
