Man Faces Several Charges After Holding Ex-Girlfriend Hostage For Hours

HURON TWP. (WWJ) - A 42-year-old Gibraltar man is facing multiple charges after holding a 27-year-old woman hostage inside her Huron Township home for several hours.

Ronald Elgean Adams Ford is expected to be arraigned Thursday on charges of first degree home invasion, unlawful imprisonment, assault by strangulation, felonious assault and domestic violence.

Prosecutors say Ford is the woman's ex-boyfriend.

Police responded to the woman's home in the Country Meadows Mobile Home Park on Will Carleton Road around 3:30 p.m. Monday after receiving a report that she was being held against her will at knifepoint.

Ford reportedly made threats, claiming he would harm the woman if police tried to move in and rescue her.

The woman was released, unharmed, around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and Ford was taken into custody.
