Man Faces Life Behind Bars In Royal Oak Bank Robbery
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - A 25-year-old Detroit man with a long rap-sheet is facing life behind bars after authorities say he robbed a bank in Royal Oak, and he might be responsible for a similar crime in Warren.
Justin Luther was arraigned in 44th District Court Friday on charges of bank robbery and armed robbery. Bond was set at $125,000, no 10 percent.
Luther is accused of targeting the TCF Bank at Crooks and 12 Mile roads on Monday. Investigators say he entered the bank around noon, passed a note to a teller demanding money and implied he was armed. After getting the cash, he fled on foot.
The FBI violent crimes task force is also looking into whether Luther also robbed a bank in Warren on Tuesday.
Police say Luther has prior convictions for possession of marijuana, assault and battery, driving while license suspended, embezzlement less than $200, and third-degree retail fraud.
Luther, who remains jailed, is due back in court on August 22.
