Man Dies After Fishing Boat Capsizes In Southern Michigan

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 62-year-old man has died after the fishing boat he was in capsized when he and another man tried to anchor in a lake in southern Michigan.

The accident took place Monday afternoon at Skiff Lake. The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports Craig Steven Ritson suffered cardiac arrest and had CPR performed at the scene in Liberty Township, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The sheriff's department says an 83-year-old man had hypothermia and was in stable condition at a hospital.

The Liberty Township Fire Department responded after a neighbor heard yelling coming from the lake. The men were found near the 12-foot boat. The newspaper says Ritson and the 82-year-old were believed to have been in the water for 10 minutes before 911 was called.
