Michigan Man Dies After Fall From Zip Line At Christian Camp

SEBEWAING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say an 85-year-old man has died after falling from a zip line at a camp in Michigan's Thumb region.

The Huron County sheriff's department says James J. McNeil of Belmont fell from the zip line Thursday afternoon at Bay Shore Camp in Sebewaing Township, about 95 miles north of Detroit. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The sheriff's department says it responded to the camp following the fall and a preliminary investigation found that the harness attached to McNeil came unfastened, causing him to fall. Investigators say they reviewed video and talked to witnesses at the camp.

An autopsy is planned. Bay Shore Camp is a Christian camp that offers youth activities as well as adult retreats and events.
