Young Man Shot In Face At Inkster Gas Station; Suspects On The Loose

INKSTER (WWJ) - A young man is clinging to life after being shot in the face outside of a gas station in Inkster.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Marathon gas station on the corner of Inkster Road and Avondale Avenue.

The man -- identified in reports as a Wyandotte resident -- was outside of his vehicle when two suspects in a black Chevy Tahoe pulled up.

Police say the suspects approached the man and there was some type of exchange, during which he was shot in the face. The suspects then fled the scene.

Several bystanders witnessed the shooting, including a pregnant woman who was in the victim's vehicle.

The man was rushed to an area hospital where officials say he remains in "very critical" condition. His name is being withheld because investigators believe he was targeted by the suspects, who remain on the loose.

A surveillance photo taken from inside the gas station shows the gunman, a black male with short black hair and facial hair.

Anyone with information is urged to contact state police at 855-642-4847.
