Man Crawling Across Opdyke Rd. Struck By Car, Killed

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Oakland County authorities say a man who was hit by a car and killed in Pontiac had been drinking.

According to sheriff's investigators, the 55-year old Auburn Hills man was crawling on his hands and knees across Opdyke Road in the area of Kirkman and Hempstead Road when struck by a Ford Fusion shortly before 8 p.m. Monday.

He was taken by EMS to McLaren Hospital Oakland where he was pronounced dead.

The driver involved — an 18-year-old West Bloomfield Twp. man — wasn't hurt.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor on the part of the pedestrian, sheriff's officials said. The crash remains under investigation by Deputies from the Oakland County Crash Reconstruction Unit.

No charges have been filed and no names have been released.
