Man Charged With Robbing Bank Inside Kroger Grocery Store

TROY (WWJ) - A man suspected of robbing a bank inside a local Kroger grocery store has been charged in the case after being taken into custody with the help of the FBI.

Robert Perry, 36, was arraigned Monday in 52-4 District Court on one count of bank robbery and was ordered held on a $250,000 cash bond.

Authorities say Perry, of Dryden, Mich., is responsible for robbing the Best Bank located inside of Kroger on John R near Big Beaver Road in Troy. According to police, Perry entered the bank around 3 p.m. on January 7 and presented the teller with a note demanding money. After getting what he came for, Perry fled the scene.

Investigators from the Troy Police Department joined forces with the FBI Oakland County Violent Gangs and Crimes Task Force, the Madison Heights Police Department and the Michigan Department of Corrections to identify the robbery suspect as Perry.

On January 8, Troy police and assisting agencies located and arrested Perry.

"The Troy Police Department wishes to thank the agencies involved in the investigation and apprehension of Perry," police said in a statement. "Those agencies previously mentioned were critical to the resolution of this serious incident."
