Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Ferris State Student Shooting

BIG RAPIDS (WWJ/AP) - Michigan authorities have charged a 20-year-old man with shooting a Ferris State University student at his off-campus apartment.

Ferris State safety Director Bruce Borkovich says DeCory Downing is charged with attempted murder and having a firearm in a felony.

Burkovich says the suspect has a long criminal record and isn't a student at the Big Rapids school.

The victim's injuries aren't life-threatening.
