According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office Grayson took young Marvie Gardner from a home along Winston Street -- near 7 Mile and Grand River on the city's west side, early Thursday morning.

Detroit police found the child hours later, unharmed, after tipsters spotted him in a parked car about three-to-four miles away, outside of an abandoned home on Biltmore Street.

A short time later, Grayson was located on a DDOT bus at E. 7  Mile and Ryan.  According to Detroit Transit Police, a butcher knife was found a jacket he left on the bus.

Grayson stood mute to the charges in 36th District Court and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.

He remains jailed on a $750,000 bond and is due back in court for a probable cause conference next week.

The child's mother, Latoya Spears on Thursday told WWJ's Mike Campbell that Grayson was the father of her friend's child. Spears said that she hardly knew the man who made off with her little boy after she fell asleep, taking a knife from the kitchen and leaving a threatening note.

According to prosecutors, however, an investigation revealed that Spears had been dating Grayson and that they have a 2-year-old child together.
