Man Charged After Wife's Body Found In Burning Vehicle

BRILEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A northern Michigan man faces charges in the slaying of his wife whose body was found in the rear seat of a burning vehicle.

WPBN-TV reports that Erich Wilfinger was charged Friday with open murder.

Marsha Wilfinger's burned remains were discovered Saturday in Montmorency County's Albert Township, southeast of Mackinaw City.

Authorities say it appeared that the vehicle had been towed to the area and they followed a trail of road marks and auto parts to a home in Briley Township.

Investigators have said there was evidence of a recent domestic assault at the home.

Erich Wilfinger is being held without bond. He faces a July 10 hearing and July 17 preliminary examination.
