Teenager Being Chased By Police Dies In Crash

ROMULUS (WWJ) - An 18-year-old driver who was being chased by police was killed when his car crashed mid-pursuit, according to authorities.

Michigan State Police say Romulus police officers were chasing the teen around 1:15 a.m. Thursday when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wooden utility pole on Beverly Road and Henry Ruff Street, just west of Merriman Road.

The teen was declared dead at the scene. No one else was injured.

State police did not specify why officers were chasing the teen, whose name was not released pending notification of next of kin.

Romulus police have yet to comment on the incident.

An investigation is ongoing.
