Man Arrested In Theft Of Fire Rescue Truck From Station

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP (AP) - A 32-year-old Commerce Township man faces charges after a fire department rescue unit truck was stolen from the driveway at a station house.

Oakland County sheriff's office Sgt. Dale Brown tells The Detroit News that the man could be arraigned Saturday.

He was arrested Friday afternoon when deputies located the missing truck outside Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital's emergency room -- two miles from Commerce Township Fire Station 2.

Hospital security saw the man climb from the rig and into an ambulance. He was out of the ambulance when deputies arrived.

Brown said the man indicated "he wanted to go see his mother who he thought or believed was at Huron Valley hospital."
